Foot Care


Diabetes mellitus is a common disease causing significant mortality and morbidity.Diabetes mellitus is strongly associated with obesity and the rise in the prevalence of diabetes is due to a rise in the prevalence of obesity


Efforts should also be taken to prevent diabetes as a few studies have shown that diabetes is preventable or the onset of diabetes delayed. Healthcare personnel should be made aware of this and adequate resources should also be made available.faced with an increasing burden of diabetes and its'complications. This will not only be in terms of more suffering for patients but also more costs to the nation in terms of healthcare expenditure and loss of productivity.
Diabetes is a major problem in this country and is predicted to become a much bigger problem.
Diabetes care is far from satisfactory with the majority of patients not achieving the clinical goals and the rate
of complications being still high. Serious and urgent efforts are required to address these issues, otherwise the nation will be burdened by patients with diabetes and its' complications

Our feet do a tough job all day, every day. Show them some love and keep your feet happy by following these healthy feet care tips and they'll thank you for it!

Foot Care Tips

1. Take Care of the Diabetes by controlling your blood sugar   within a good range

2.Look at your feet every day for cuts, blisters, red spots, and swelling. Use a mirror to check the bottoms of your feet 

3.Wash your feet in warm, not hot water every day. Clean between your toes. Use an antibacterial soap and a nail brush to scrub away dirt and grime Dry your feet well. Be sure to dry in between your toes.

4.Dry feet thoroughly and carefully with a clean towel. This will help prevent athlete’s foot, a fungus that causes itchy, red, flaking skin between and around the toes.

5.Keep Your Skin Soft and Smooth by rub a thin coat of skin lotion over the tops and bottoms of your feet but not between your toes. Massage your feet every day as you moisturize to soothe sore, aching muscles and improve blood flow.

6.Smooth Corns and Calluses Gently Smooth rough soles and the edges of your feet every day with a pumice stone. This removes the dead skin on your feet and helps prevent the skin from splitting, infection, and the buildup of calluses.

7.Trim Your Toenails every week or when needed Trim your toenails straight across and file the edges with an emery board or nail file.

8.Wear comfortable shoes that fit at all times to protect your feet. Wear the right shoes for the right climate and don’t walk barefoot outside, as this can cause injury to your feet. Feel inside your shoes before putting them on each time to make sure the lining is smooth and there are no objects inside.

PRECIOUS FEET



Dear all readers, in this article , I would like to share information with you which is related to healthy. I would like to discuss about the feet. What is so special about it ? Why it is precious ?

If a newly got married couple were asked about their expectations of the future, all would have said they want to live happily and have children. Once the wife gets pregnant, the husband looks more cheerful and began to imagine him to be a father. During the period of pregnancy the mother is advised to come early to antenatal clinics and the service is provided free of charge. Doctors will ensure that the mothers have the MMR vaccination to protect the fetus from rubella which can cause congenital deformity. Today images of fetus can be view clearly with the advancement of medical technology using 4D ultrasound machine.


We must thank to God for having a pair of legs. After birth the foot size is only about 2 fingers.  Their parent gave the utmost attention until they become young - adult then slowly handed over the responsibility and taking care of feet by you either in terms of neither hygiene nor safety aspects

Most people do not realize the importance of their feet until the one time where they loss the feet through illness or accident. Feet not only to allow a person to walk around freely but it also has the ability to heal the body itself because it is equipped with 7,200 nerve endings each foot.  When these nerve reflexes are properly stimulated, the blood circulation is improving, relaxing tension and anxiety thus it helping to promote natural healing of the body

DIABETES MANAGEMENT

Diabetes VS Atomic Bomb Explosion


Diabetes is a chronic disease that hit the world's population. At the end of 1945 the world woke up with the explosion of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Number of casualties is estimated between 90,000 to 140,000. But now 189 million people suffering from diabetes.WHO estimate the number rose to 324 million in 2025.

Diabetes is considered epidemic because of its number is increasing from year to year and leave severe complications such as blindness, ischaemic heart disease, renal failure ,diabetic foot ulcer and amputation.In Malaysia, the prevalence of diabetes continues to rise. What is even more worrying is the fact that almost half of our population with diabetes is unaware that they have the disease.

The Third National Health and Morbidity Survey (3rd NHMS) showed that the prevalence of the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for adults aged 30 years old and above now stood at a staggering 14.9% and prevalence of diabetes in 2020 was 4.5 million, Despite achieving the status of a developed nation Malaysia was burdened with the problem of chronic diseases


The Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) was developed to provide a clear and concise approach to all health care providers on the current concepts in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. There are suggestions that a lower target BP may be necessary to maximally protect against the development and progression of cardiovascular and diabetic renal disease. In general, the SBP should be targeted to <130 mmHg and diastolic pressure <80 mmHg. 108.  The BP should be lowered even further to ≤125/75 mmHg in the presence of proteinuria of >1g/24 hours.

Dietary counselling should target at optimal body weight and take into consideration glycaemic control and the management of concomitant dyslipidaemia. People with diabetes should be screened for complications at diagnosis and thereafter at yearly intervals.

UKPDS data confirmed that in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, improvement of glycaemic control by lowering  the HbA1c lowers the risk of developing both macrovascular and microvascular complications.

Inform patients regarding lifestyle measures.Diet and physical activity form an integral part of the management of diabetes. Education on lifestyle modification should be initiated at diagnosis and reinforced regularly.

Emphasize that diet and physical activity are the mainstay of treatment. Medication can be
given at diagnosis for appropriate patients.Patients should be educated to practice self-care. This allows the patient to assume responsibility and control of his/her own diabetes management.
